2014-14 Season Review: April

Published on the 16 June 2015 à 08:06 by R.B

There were four matches in the diary for April, including the derby, for OL to secure second place and hope for a slip up by leaders Paris...

After the loss to Nice, OL bounced back against Guingamp. EAG were reduced to ten men just before half-time and OL showed little mercy with a goal each to its trio of attackers Fekir, NJie and Lacazette. The only black spot was that late consolation goal…

The Sporting Bastia visited OL three days after their 4-0 loss in the Coupe de la Ligue vs PSG. It looked like a relatively easy match on paper, but the Corsicans had a point to prove and caused Alexandre Lacazette and Co. their fair share of problems. It was Alex that made the difference in the end after an excellent solo run from NJie. The match also marked a winning return for Clément Grenier who played his first 28 minutes of the season in the Week 32 clash.

It was time for the derby, the revenge. It was a quality match, including a sublime opening 30 minutes from OL. Les Verts were in all sorts of trouble and trailing 1-0. But Rose was sent off for a hand ball in the area and ASSE equalised and went in front before half time. But OL equalised shortly after the restart through Jallet, and pushed Les Verts all the way to the end… it finished 2-2 but OL deserved so much more…

Away to Reims, OL struck early with two goals inside the opening six 6 minutes. Reims came back, but NJie steadied the boat and in the end, it finished 4-2... OL still held faint hopes of the title...
