28th round game in the leaguethis weekend with the big game between OL and Bordeaux. A derby in the north between Valenciennes and Lille… without forgetting the clash OM – ASSE…
Caen are falling like a stone : 8 games without winning and 4 points taken. The Normans are not safe yet and their defence is shipping goals at an alarming rate … the second worse defence in the league. Lorient are still having trouble scoring ; they are the second worse attack in the L1. Nancy are stagnating : 34 points after the first 15 games… 11 points from the next 12! Their place on the podiul is under threat from OM and Le Mans. Monaco have slowed down again, but they can still achieve a European spot..
Nice haven’t won for 6 games and have lost their last two at home. They have a big game against Le Mans with their chances of European qualification in the balance. Le Mans dropped 3 points at home to Strasbourg, who put a stop to their run. How will they react? The Derby of the east at the Meinau. Strasbourg who beat Le Mans last week face Metz who won only their 3rd game of the season last weekend. The Alsatians still have to fight against relegation. Metz have nothing but their honour to play for.
Toulouse – Sochaux ? The 18th placed team against the 19th placed squad… The 3 points will let one of the teams hope. Toulouse will not want to lose at home. They have only taken 13 of their 29 points at the Stadium ! Sochaux have been playing better sinc the arrival of Francis Gillot ; 12 points in 8 games (as opposed to 16 from 19). They are not safe yet though. Bréchet et al have taken 17 points away from home. They prefer the road.
Valenciennes haven’t really being going anywhere for the last few games, 4 points from 7 matches. Lille are stuck in the lower reaches of the table. Beaten at the Stade de France, they wil hope to get something form the game against their neighbours who they thrased 3 - 0 earlier in the season. And a classic to round things off Marseille versus St. Etienne. OM are looking for a place on the podium, St. Etienne are looking at a top half spot. OM are on a good run at the moment though.
