It’s the 90th derby this weekend… 84 of them have come in the league. How many times have Les Verts and Les Lyonnais won two in the same season? How many times have both meetings in the same campaign ended all square?

Saint-Etienne have won both games in the same season six times : in 1956-57 (3-1 at the Stade Gerland and 3-2 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard); in 1963-64 (5-4 and 2-1); in 1964-65 (1-0 and 6-0); in 1969-70 (2-1 and 1-0); in 1970-71 (7-1 and 6-0); and in 1981-82 (1-0 and 4-0).

Lyon have achieved the same double three times: in 1955-56 (2-1 at the Stade Gerland and 1-0 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard); in 1971-72 (2-0 and 1-0); and in 2004-2005 (3-2 and 3-2).

The two teams have finished all square in the same season three times: in 1967-68 (1-1 and 1-1); in 1975-76 (0-0 and 1-1); and in 1999-2000 (0-0 and 1-1).

In 22 if the 40 seasons which have hosted this famous rendezvous, OL has failed to win either of the two games; Saint-Etienne has failed to win a game against OL in 10 of the 40 campaigns.

Penalties and own goals? For own-goals, OL has scored four times for their opponents: Polack, Degeorges, Ferri and Ravanello. On each occasion, the match was won by Les Verts. ASSE have also scored four own goals: Kastendeuch, Bosquier, Polny and Hellebuyck resulting in three Lyon wins and a draw.

As for the penalties: two have been scored by Les Verts, resulting in two ASSE wins: Roussey and Kastendeuch. Three penalties have been put away by the Olympians in three different games resulting in three victories: Juninho x 2 and Garde.
