A historic Double for OL...a "so British" final in the Champions League and the start of the traditional Cannes film festival were the major events of May 2008.
[IMG43596#R]The final of the Champions League would take place this year in the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The encounter would oppose two of the top European clubs, both of them English: Manchester United and Chelsea… Already fighting it out for the title of English champions, the two sides battled it out for 120 minutes. Franck Lampard firing home an equaliser after Cristiano Ronaldo had opened the scoring in regular time. Didier Drogba, was sent off during extra time. And during the penalty shoot out, Nicolas Anelka was unable to fire past Edwin Van Der Sar. Manchester won the game (1-1, 6 penalties to 5) and were crowned European champions for the third time in the history.
The month of May is also the time of the Cannes Film Festival … The 61st edition kicked-off on the 13th of May, with Sean Penn President of the Jury. The American director would give the Palme d’or to the film « Entre les murs ». The festival was also marked by the presence of Clint Eastwood, awarded with a special prize in the company of Catherine Deneuve. The Festival rocked La Croisette for 12 days.
