first team / Rennes - OL D -1

A hunt for points in Brittany!

Published on the 05 November 2010 à 20:20 by R.B

OL have changed form since the defeat against Saint-Etienne… Ignoring the league standings for the moment, they are looking to reduce, or maintain, the gap between them and the top sides, of which Rennes are members…

Since the sad evening against Saint-Etienne, OL have reacted. You just have to look at the points taken to realize it. Lyon had won more points than all the teams before them on the evening of Week 7, except in Brest (0) and perhaps OM (0) if the Phoenicians beat Rennes in their game in hand. The rest is rather eloquent: 8 points more than ASSE, 7 compared to PSG, 6 with TFC, 6, 5 or 3 with Rennes ... The hunt for points has been opened!

To continue this recovery, the Olympians will have to deal with the fatigue pickled up since October 17th. Saturday night at the stade de la Route de Lorient, they will play their seventh game in 21 days while the Bretons will be playing their third... Burnout against the lack of rhythm... Who will take advantage of this situation in this important match for both teams? We'll see.

Another question, the problem of the absentees. Mangane, a priori, Kana-Byik, Leroy, Apam without forgetting Lemoine on one side, Cissokho, Lisandro, Delgado, Ederson, Kolo, Grenier and hoping that Toulalan will be able to play on the other, the former Nantes player would be up against Mvila. If the Breton defense is clearly disabled, Lyon’s are suffering on the left flank and Claude Puel has to "tinker". Who will step in against Rennes? Between Källström, Bastos, Lovren, Diakhaté ... honestly we have no idea! Unless Réveillère can momentarily return to the left flank on which he has already played...

It will be a default choice as Antonetti said about the alternatives. For the rest, physical freshness should invite itself to the seven-time champions of France with Makoun in the midfield or why not Lacazette on a wing.

Finally, what face will Cris and his team-mates show? We do not know in advance ... Actors or spectators? Or as is often the case with different clothes? The Lyon coach did not like some and appreciated others. He is not alone! So, we would like to see a fine coat of light on Saturday in this encounter between two clubs known for their training academies.
