A save… a goal… an image…

OL ended the first month of the year with four wins and just one defeat, in the Coupe de France. Les Lyonnais finished January on top of the Ligue 1 table...

A save...

Baptiste Guillaume must be still scratching his head, wondering just what exactly happened in the 10th minute of Lens' Coupe de France clash against OL. The Lens striker must have thought he'd done enough, getting his foot onto El Jadeyaoui's perfect low cross, just six yards out. But Anthony Lopes wasn't of the same opinion. Thanks to his incredible reflexes, the OL goalkeeper produced yet another remarkable save to keep his side in the box seat...

A goal...

That goal scored at La Beaujoire in the Coupe de France scored at a lightning pace. After winning back possession in Nantes' half of the field, Malbranque played the ball forward immediately with Ghezzal, who completed the one-two with a perfect back-heel. Steed then released Lacazette in behind the defence and the Lyon striker did the rest, supplying the perfect finish...

And there was also that stunning strike from Corentin Tolisso against Metz. He only needed a two-step run-up to release a powerful drive from 25 metres out that swerved and danced through the air, leaving the FC Metz 'keeper grasping at thin air...

Alexandre Lacazette finally brought to a halt, just moments after scoring his 21st goal of the Ligue 1 season. In sensational form in recent weeks, the France international had played all but 23 minutes of the Ligue 1 season, before suffering a hamstring strain in the first half of the league match against Metz. An injury that looks like keeping him sidelined for at least three weeks... A real blow for a the team that must now go for a spell without the man directly involved in more than half the side's goals this term... and also without Milan Bisevac, the team's most experienced player, who suffered a serious knee injury just a few days later against Monaco...
