Alain Perrin is glad to have his internationals back, and now it’s time to get back to normal life at the club with a couple of important games coming up in the next 3 days…
So now it’s time for Rennes…
“Indeed, the players have to re-focus and give everything to their club now. Don’t forget we’re coming off a loss to OM. We haven’t even had time to have a debriefing. That match simply confirmed that we’re not in a secure position vis-à-vis our adversaries. The best way to prepare for the match against Barcelona is to have a good match against Rennes. We’re preparing for everything at the same time. Rennes had a great start to the season but has tailed off slightly in the last few rounds – which coincides with the absence of Sylvain Wiltord. But he’s back now we’ll have to watch him closely, along with Briand, Leroy… Defensively, they’re a solid team. And they’re playing better than last season; they have real attacking potential.”
Do you have an idea of the line-up you’ll field in Brittany?
[IMG42646#R]“It’s about 90% complete. I have to think about how much game time respective players have had. Some players. Like Govou, Källström and Clerc played two complete matches. We need freshness. So there are two or three questions to answer. I’m a bit stuck on the right flank; Anderson and Santos are suspended. Anderson will be ready for Barcelona. Bodmer? His injury was a slight one. Baros? It’s 50-50. Müller? He’s not ready to be in the squad yet. Fred? He’s progressing. He needs to play, probably another two or three matches, before he’s back to his best. In training, in the matches we play, he scores. Fred or Benzema? Good question.”
“Recruitment is an ongoing process. You have the will of the club and the will of the players. We’re always reviewing the situation.”
Coupet? “It’s great that he’s back with the squad. He still has some hurdles to jump, though. No predictions for the time being. We hope he’ll be competitive before the end of the year.”
