August... a bloodbath!

Fred returned from Brazil on crutches. Coupet, in training, and Cris, against Toulouse, injured their knees… Roux and Anderson arrived. OL lost 2 matches in a row.

On the 1st, the day of the official club photos, Fred rejoined his team-mates. Since injuring his foot in preparation for the Copa America, he had been getting around on crutches.

On the 2nd, it was Grégory Coupet’s turn to injure his knee, keeping him sidelined for at least 4 months...

On the 3rd, Karim Benzema declared: “my time has come”.
On the 5th, OL beat Auxerre in the season opener (2–0). The scorers: Baros and Benzema.

On the 7th, Claudio Caçapa dropped into Tola Vologe.

On the 10th, Karim Benzema extended his contract by 2 years.

On the 11th, it was a nightmare night for OL, losing 1-0 away to Toulouse. Källström was sent off. Elmander scored a late winner for TFC, and OL lost Cris for 6 months after he ruptured his ACL.

On the 18th, despite yet another strike from Benzema, OL lost in Lorient (2-1). The Olympiens had only 3 poi9nts from as many games.

On the 20th, Frédéric Roux joined OL.

On the 22nd, OL announced the departure of Sylvain Wiltord. On the 23rd, Brazilian defender Cleber Anderson joined the OL squad.

[IMG42792#R]On the 26th, won a narrow but precious victory in the derby against Saint-Etienne (1–0). The game’s only goal was scored by Karim Benzema.

On the 29th, OL registered its first away win in the league 2-1 thanks to striked from Benzema (!) and Bodmer.

On the 30th, the draw for the group phase of the Champions League was held and pitted OL against Barcelona, Stuttgart and Rangers.
