AZ Vrouwen in difficulty

Published on the 12 October 2010 à 08:00 by OT

OL Women's opponents in the Champions League have had a difficult start to the season.

While everything is going perfectly well for OL’s female side, sole leader of the D1 after winning 3-1 away to Juvisy on Sunday, life is a little different for AZ.

The club from Alkmaar conceded their second defeat in four league matches last Thursday, a 2-1 home loss to FC Twente, which drops Ed Engelkes’s players back to fifth place in the Eredivisie, four points behind the leaders Heerenveen.

Since the last round of 32 first leg match which saw Lyon win 2-1 at the AFAS Stadion, AZ have conceded two defeats at home and won one match on the road. On Thursday at 17:00 at Gerland, Lyon will still have to be wary of an opponent who seems to be more comfortable away from home since the beginning of the season.
