Benzema signs on for 2 more years

At just 19 years of age, France youth international Karim Benzema has agreed a new two-year extension to his current deal with Olympique Lyonnais. He is now tied to the club until 2010.

A native of the region, Karim played 13 league matches this season, making four starts. The 2005-06 season also saw him score his first top-flight goal, against Ajaccio in Week 29, but before then, he had already scored his first Champions League goal against Rosenborg. The young forward is preparing to begin his tenth season with OL.
