Booking and the derby

Published on the 10 October 2006 à 15:20 by R.B

Derby…derby… derby… when it comes to bookings, OL and ASSE have almost identical records…

74 yellowcards to 70! OL players have been booked more than their Saint-Etienne rivals, although the latter can boast the only two red cards given in a derby match: Roger Milla, on September 28 1984 in the 71st minute, at St-Etienne, 0-0; and Courault, September 9 1989 in the 83rd minute, at St-Etienne, 1-0.

In terms of yellow cards, the Lyonnais Raymond Domenech holds the record to this day: 5 (1 at the Stade Gerland and 4 at Geoffroy-Guichard)! He leads the Stephanois Janvion (4); then P. Revelli (3), Despeyroux (3), Moravcik (3), Ilunga (3)… Genesio (3), Laurent Fournier (3), Olio (3), N’Gotty (3)… Ilunga is therefore on track to near, or even catch, the current France national coach.

Of the other booked players: Platini (1), Laurent Blanc (1), Herbin (1), Bereta (1), Battiston (1), Paganelli (1)… for one side; and Garde (2), Maurice (2), Juninho (1), Amoros (1), Edmilson (1), Cris (1), Violeau (1), Govou (1), Diarra (1)… for the other.
