Bring back the light....

Without much time to pose too many questions after the defeat at the hands of Lille. This final group stage match against Debrecen could bring a lot of satisfaction to Lyon...

And if the visit of the Hungarians of Debrecen gave the seven times French champions the chance of putting a smile back on their faces? On the face of it, it should be possible in the knowledge of the results of this team after 5 group stage matches, 5 defeats with 15 goals conceded. An expected victory, coupled with first place in the group depending on Fiorentina’s result in Liverpool, would add a whole load of joy to the smile.

OL have not won at home since the visit of Toulouse at the end of September. OL haven’t won at all, in fact, since their trip to St-Etienne on the 31st of October. Nostalgia has started to win over the supporters. Without speaking of worry before the reception of Bordeaux! It is time to get a good lungful of fresh air by showing this Hungarian side all the difference between an experienced European side and a novice.

Debrecen will be deprived of their goalkeeper Poleksic, so nervous in the first match, the former Nancy player Rudolf and Leandro. The French striker Coulibaly will be available, he has scored 2 goals in the group stage and is top scorer in the domestic league. By playing for pleasure, the current second placed side in their league, have nothing to lose unless their defence leaks as much as they did against Fiorentina (a 5-2 defeat).

Will Claude Puel be tempted to rotate the squad in view of the crazy programme, 5 matches in 14 days, they have coming before the winter break? Will he be tempted to preserve Lisandro and Pjanic from a third yellow card? But OL, still deprived of Bodmer and Toulalan, cann they do without the incredible Argentinean or the talented Bosnian? That remains to be seen … in the knowledge that Laurent Blanc, with Bordeaux, has decided to put out a second string line-up against Maccabi…

Without speaking of redemption, a lot is expected of Cris and his team-mates on this Wednesday 8th of December. They need to « quite simply » bring back the light …
