Claude Puel's press conference

Published on the 12 November 2010 à 13:35 by R.B

An extensive press conference, with a lot of questions...the match against Nice...the situation in the L1...the position of left-back...the controversy...the injury situation...

THE INJURY SITUATION

"Briand has returned to the pitch, Diakhaté and Bastos too. We'll see. Lisandro and Cissokho continue their return to fitness. No question of taking risks against Nice. Delgado started on the bike. Grenier is out with a torn hamstring".

THE WEEK OF TRAINING

"A week is a luxury, even if we would have preferred to have continued in the Coupe de la Ligue. This helped heal sores, to decompress mentally, to recover physically, to work on our fitness again. It was a good week. We have to be prepared for the final stretch through to December".

OL AND THE START TO MATCHES

"There's a psychological aspect that comes into play. And with fatigue it can become complicated. It is true that we have not been particularly good".

OL IN THE LIGUE 1 SINCE THE DEFEAT TO SAINT-ETIENNE

"I like when you say that Lyon is leading the championship over the last five matches. It's positive. This does not preclude an awareness of our shortcomings. This championship is very difficult, we are still there and the result depends only on us. I saw many good things against Rennes after the first quarter of an hour. In the end, this game leaves us regrets. Now we need more consistency and get a rhythm of a team that wants to be in the lead. It takes consistency; domination of our subject. The championship of France is a very physical championship, very difficult. Tactically, the teams are in place, there are no spaces. There are also teams that have a busier schedule. For now, no team has shown consistency and pulled away from the others".

CONTROVERSIES

"I knew that the environment at OL was not necessarily quiet and healthy. I would do without this absence. I note that it is difficult to work in OL without ups and downs. For the rest, I make no comment. I am an employee of the club and I want it to progress, I love this club, even if I am only passing through. I would give everything for it. Again, I do not want to fuel the controversy, put oil on the fire. I would stay consistent with what I say".

GOURCUFF

"He's like the team. There are games where he has been more successful than others. Do not forget, he's a new player at OL. I am very patient in these conditions. There is always an adjustment period. In Rennes, I enjoyed that he was positioned higher up the field. He is moving forward well".

MAKOUN

"We’ll see when the transfer window comes around. There are a lot of games before the winter break. Jean II is an integral part of the squad. He is an important player. We need him. He never cheated. You know my way of thinking about what happens to him when he plays at the Stade Gerland".

LEFT BACK IN THE ABSENCE OF CISSOKHO

"There are different possibilities. It's true we have been a little shaky in the absence of Aly. I hope that Kolo will be able to confirm his progress in games. This weekend, he should normally have a chance. Afterwards, we have adopted a certain policy, particularly with the youngsters. We stand by it... I stand by it".

CLERC

"I will not say anything. François is no longer an OL player. It does not interest me and he does not interest me. "

NICE

"This team is doing well. They have managed to get results despite departures each season. Congratulations to them. I appreciate the work being done at Nice. Mounier? That's good. He is progressing through playing. He has a great frame of mind and is healthy. I'm happy for him. He is now an important player".
