February... hope floats

OL’s record in February got a bit better in February… a draw in Rome in the Champions League gave the Olympiens hope of progressing…

In the league Troyes drew inspiration from Toulouse and Bordeaux, beating OL in stoppage time… a beautiful move from Fred was enough to get past Lorient in the next match. Fabio Santos started his first match. In the last 6 minutes, Squillaci and Fred secured the 3 points in Lille. A superb free kick from the Brazilian… and a fine goal for "Toto".

The visit of Sochaux was within a whisker of turning into yet another defeat for OL. Wiltord and Juninho, in stoppage time, got OL back on level terms with the Doubistes. A great return to action for Wiltord.

[IMG42784#R]But the month’s biggest match was in the Eternal City. At Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on February 21, OL played out a shrewd draw. The 0-0 was at the same time a good result and an embarrassing score. How to approach the home game? Without Jérémy Toulalan, suspended for accumulating too many yellow cards. It was the first in the last 16 that OL hadn’t won. They had won at Real Sociedad, Bremen and PSV Eindhoven. For the 4th time, they didn’t concede a single goal. Thus hopes of progressing further were sparked…
