Check out who said what in the OLTV bus after Lyon’s 3-2 win over TFC...
It’s great to get the win. The important thing was to get back to winning ways at home after a series of losses. Toulouse were very physical and it was a really tough game. We showed our good form in the second half. The squad is very happy with the win, even if we got a bit of a scare in the final minutes. It was very important to win tonight.
Without really controlling things, we still managed to catch out the Toulouse defence. The TFC’s two goals unsettled us towards the end. They are an incredibly physical side. It was an important win which sees us get back to back victories and we move ahead of both Toulouse and Rennes on the ladder, even if the gaps are very small. The aim is to climb back into the top three. I’m very happy with my players. You can feel a real strength when we play at home. After a run of losses, you can feel the confidence returning with the wins. Concerning Dejan Lovren, he was uncertain before the game and I didn’t want to take any risks because we have another big game in the Champions League on Wednesday.
After the excellent result against Auxerre, we wanted to play well at home. The final minutes were tough, but we dug deep to hang on. It was a very important victory tonight. We stay in touch with the top three ahead of the winter break. To score with my left foot, after the serious injury I suffered was a great symbol. I love the position I’m playing on the field. We have a tough Champions League game on Wednesday and we’ll be heading there to win. Madrid can still defeat Ajax. Nothing is impossible in football and we’re going to give it everything to have no regrets.
You have to take your hats off to Toulouse who produced a good performance with good players. Leading 3-0, we thought we had the result in the bag. Toulouse showed all their quality to get back in the game. These game are exciting and remind us that there’s still everything to play for this season. It’s going to be a very interesting season. We have seen that when we are full strength we can cause our opponents problems. At the end of this month, we’ll have plenty to look forward to in the second half of the season. As for the Champions League, we have seen that Real Madrid are very strong. They can beat Ajax and we need to show that we can also produce something magnificent. The Europa League doesn’t scare me at all, but it’s true, playing in the Champions League is fantastic.
We knew that this was a very important match for us. We needed to get back to winning ways at home. We need to keep this team spirit we’ve had since the start of the campaign and I hope we continue like this. The whole squad worked very hard against a powerful, physical opponent. On Wednesday, we’ll also be relying on Real Madrid’s performance. We’ll go out and do our best and see what happens.
