L1: 3rd round of games

Published on the 21 August 2008 à 08:01 by R.B

This weekend sees the 3rd round of games in the L1... The big game will be at Gerland between OL and Grenoble... the strong OM attack will be looking to shoot down Le Havre at home... Sochaux, 0 points, take on PSG...

The gaps are not too wide before the third round of league games this weekend. But Sochaux (0 points), Nancy (1 point), Rennes (1 point), Nantes (1 point) and Lille (1 point) would be well inspired to get a result. Sochaux, Nancy and Rennes will be playing at home against PSG, Toulouse... Lille will be making the trip to Rennes, while Nantes take on Bordeaux away from home. These are already important games for teams that will not want to be too far behind too early on in the season.

OM and their formidable firepower will be away to the newly promoted Le Havre. It will most likely complicated for Christophe Revault to keep a clean sheet! The matches between Le Mans & St-Etienne, Monaco & Caen, Valenciennes & Lorient, Auxerre & Nice would appear to be tighter affairs.

Bordeaux seem to be the logical favourites at home to a freshly promoted Nantes side.

These games come straight after midweek international games . There could be a certain amount of fatigue, even changes to starting line-ups, for the teams who had players taking part in these friendly games that were rehearsals for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers that will be coming up very soon.
