Les Lyonnais thinking positive

Old habits die hard and despite the fact that Barcelona ended a run of 13 Champions League away matches without defeat, the Lyon players that didn’t play, or played very little against the Catalans were back training, while the starting XI jogged…

The only difference was the session finished late, at around 17:00 after a video session designed to watch the 3-0 defeat again. Was their that match to discuss? So much to correct? “No. We just a very normal video session,” revealed Alain Perrin. “It confirmed the impressions we had from actually playing the match.” And the verdict? “It wasn’t as bad as all that,” said Jérémy Toulalan. “There were bad things but also plenty of good things. We could easily have scored if we’d pushed a little harder. The 3-0 scoreline didn’t really reflect the character of the match.” “We were well organised,” added the OL coach. “We limited their scoring chances. Until the 82nd minute it was only 1-0 and the match could still have turned in our favour… We had some very good actions, with plenty of potential, but they had a very good defence in place as well and we couldn’t find the opening.”
