Lyon’s final friendly match

This Tuesday at 19:00, OL plays its fourth and final friendly match. Up until now, OL has won every match…

Ahead of the opening round of the 2006/07 season, les Lyonnais have another 90 minutes to continue their preparations. Just as they did two seasons ago, they will play on the pitch at Villefranche. That day it was their first pre-season warm-up against Châteauroux (2-0 win; goals to Viale and Idangar). Later that month they travelled to Chambery to take on PAOK Salonika, just days before a Trophée des Champions clash against PSG.

Gérard Houllier has decided to call up his entire squad for the match – a squad that will train behind closed doors the morning of the game. Benzema should make his return to action; Müller after just one week of training could also get a run. The World Cup stars? Cris arrived back in Lyon on Monday. Fred will touch down 24hrs later while Juninho will return at the same time as the France players.

"The aim is to maintain our winning trend and also patch up the defensive problems we experienced in the second half against Charleroi." The Lyon coach set out his objectives, while admitting that the heat and fatigue could affect his squad. "I will have to make a certain number of changes. For the moment I’m satisfied with our three previous games and our desire to win each and every time we play."
