Monaco - OL: postponed

Published on the 29 January 2006 à 19:30 by BV

The match between Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais, originally scheduled for 20:45, Sunday, was postponed.

'Les Lyonnais' were to be the first team to play on the Stade Louis II's brand new playing surface, laid in midweek. Unfortunately the heavy rain that has battered the south-west in recent days forced the cancelling of the match.
Around 19:30, the match referee, Mr Layec decided to postpone the match.
It was the fourth game of round 24 to be cancelled in France. On Saturday, the matches Nantes-Ajaccio, Saint-Etienne-Nice and Strasbourg - PSG were unable to kick-off.
Following Bordeaux's win over Lens on Saturday, 1-0, Lyon is now just nine points clear over their rivals in second place, who have played one match more.
The calendar sometimes has a funny way of working, as the two sides will meet this Sunday in round 25 of the league.

On Wednesday, Gérard Houllier's men take on Ajaccio in the last 32 of the Coupe de France.
