Thanks to the win over Sochaux on Saturday, OL won its 16th trophy since returning to L1, its 15th in 10 years. OL is without question the club of the beginning of the 21st century. Six days out from the beginning of the season, a quick look back on the last 10 L1 seasons.

First of all, one should note that, with the exception of season 1997-98, for the last 10 years, OL has finished in L1’s top 3 every time.
Third in 1998-99 and 1999-00, Olympique Lyonnais finished second in 2000-01 before winning 6 consecutive titles.

A table of points accumulated over the last 10 seasons in L1 has OL sitting right atop French football for the last decade. Through the seasons, OL has opened up an impressive gap in front of its competitors, counting a 117-point advantage over second place (Monaco), that’s 39 victories (a league season plus a win).

In the last 10 years, the Monégasques have had 5 top-3 finishes, while OM and Lille have had 3 each.
Bordeaux, third on the table, have only finished in the top 3 on 2 occasions.
