In a tight encounter, OL and Bordeaux were well matched until Chamakh's goal five minutes before full time.
OL, looking for a win in the Ligue 1 for the last four matches, were at home to the reigning champions. Just a few minutes before kick-off, the Bordeaux defender had to declare forfeit and was replaced by the youngster Sane. For Lyon, Bastos and Källström were alongside Lisandro up front.
The encounter started with great intensity, with both sides closing each other down. OL were the first to create a dangerous opportunity. The Argentinean Lisandro heading towards goal from a Anthony Réveillère cross, but Carrasso was on the trajectory of the ball (8’). A poorly controlled ball by Sane was picked up Pjanic who broke through the Bordeaux back line to play in « Licha » who was incorrectly signaled offside by the linesman. The former OL player Alou Diarra was then logically sanctioned for a bad tackle on Max Gonalons. Played in by Pjanic, Michel Bastos tried to curl in an effort, but the Brazilian was blocked by a defender (24’). From a Plasil cross, Bordeaux created there first real chance, with Chamakh getting to the ball (28’). Lloris, however, got down to block the effort. The level of engagement in the match picked up a level, Cris, Källström then Gonalons all picking up yellow cards in the space of five minutes. Mr Lannoy brought the first half to an end with the score at 0-0.
On his return from the dressing room, Maxime Gonalons tried a long range shot, but his effort went well off target (48’). Claude Puel’s players were in better form than in the first half. After some great team work, Miré Pjanic found himself in the Bordeaux penalty area, but was tackled in extremis before being able to fire off an effort (53’). After a poor clearance, Fernando hit a volley which went just centimetres wide of Lloris’s goal. Both sides still had a lot of trouble approaching the opposition goal. Claude Puel threw on Bafé Gomis in place of Miré Pjanic (71’). Max Gonalons, in excellent form once again this evening, cracked in a shot from twenty metres out forcing Carrasso to punch the ball away (76’). After Bordeaux free-kick, badly dealt with by OL, Chamakh missed the target even though he was perfectly placed in the six yard box (78’). Lisandro fell in the box after being manhandled by Sane but the referee did not see fit to whistle (81’). Following a mix-up, Gourcuff crossed for the head of Chamakh, with the ball crossing the line by a few centimetres despite the intervention of Lloris (85’). What a blow! On a counter-attack, Gouffran came close to doubling the lead but his effort went just over the bar (87’). Despite an ultimate free-kick from Lisandro, OL were unable to pull level with the reigning champions.
