A study into the image and fame of France’s professional football club’s was undertaken in October by the Ipsos Institute, which confirmed Olympique Lyonnais as France’s favourite club…

To the question: "Which professional French football club do you prefer?" OL came out on top with 24% of the votes, ahead of OM (21%), PSG (9%), Nantes (5%), Saint Etienne, Lens and Bordeaux (4%), Auxerre (3%), Lille and Rennes (2%).

With a three per cent lead over Marseille (24% - 21%), OL therefore confirmed its place as France’s favourite that it has occupied since last March after an identical poll run by Ipsos for Stade 2, but then, OL held a single per cent advantage over Marseille: 26% - 25%.

OL is also the French club which benefits from the best image of Ligue 1 clubs: OL (54% of responses were ‘a very good image’), ahead of Lille (40%), Lens (39%), Saint Etienne (37%), Bordeaux (24%), Marseille (22%) and PSG (9%).
