Olympique Lyonnais will face Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League. A team against which the OL captain has very good memories.

Lyon picked up a huge opponent during the draw for the Champions League which took place this Friday in Nyon. A draw which was particularly lenient with Bordeaux who will face Olympiakos.

The first leg will be played on Tuesday the 16th of February at 20h45 at Gerland. The return leg will take place on Wednesday the 10th of March at 20h45 in the Santiago Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid.

"Real Madrid?

a good draw"

The OL captain spoke just after the draw for the last 16.  The Lyon defender is impatient for the double confrontation to come around.

What is your reaction after the draw for the last 16?

We knew we were going to draw a « big » side. The final of the Champions League will be played in Madrid. Real are one of the top three sides in Europe, with great players like Benzema, Kaka or Ronaldo. But it is still a good draw for us. Real are a team that like to play attackin gfootball and they are still getting to know one another. Let’s not forget we could have drawn Barcelona or Chelsea. In any case, at this stage of the competition all the team’s are strong.

Do you have good memories of Real?
Yes, I have played against them on four occasions and have never lost. We won twice at Gerland and drew twice at the Santiago Bernabeu.

How are you going to prepare for the reunion with Karim Benzema?
At Real, there are more players than Benzema, we are also going to have to deal with Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo. Each match has its own story. Last year we put in a great perforlance in the first leg against Barcelona at Gerland. It’s up to us to believe in ourselves and give our all.
