On the road to the last 16

OL are on the right track for qualification...A victory on Wednesday night would reinforce their position in group B...But Benfica would also pull off a great exploit in brining back a positive result from their trip...

OL know the song. In the group stage, to save themselves from excessive sweating, it is still easier to obtain a qualification, without making a mistake during the first round of matches. The seven-time champions of France have already done it on three occasions... OL also knows another song since the month of August: to move forward in peace, it is better to get good results! In the Champions League, they have done well in the first two matches, despite it not being easy. As for the calm, it could be a little better if the partners of Cris continue to win as they have done in the last three games.

Engaged in this traditional marathon of the last two months of the year, the seven-time champions of France also move from one competition to another with just enough time to recover. Recover, especially after Sunday night's efforts against Lille, a game that left Toulalan in the treatment room. Jimmy Briand will make his return after suspension. He will bring all of his qualities to the squad... and perhaps goals as was the case against Nancy. All the team needs to do now is to find the right formula together with one or two big choices to be made. It is a safe bet that there will be no major changes.

OL have taken maximum points after two matches. Benfica have not. The Lisbon giants know, just like Schalke 04 and OL that this group B can turn to a close run between the three clubs if Hapoel lose all of their matches. After a defeat in the Ruhr, this trip to Rhône and Saône is the opportunity to pull off a great exploit... or to put more pressure on themselves. If Benfica was a great European, they no longer give off the same aura, although they reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 2005-2006. With Luisao, Luiz, Aimar, Saviola, Contreao ... they do have some quality arguments.

The Olympians have a new obstacle to get over. It seems reasonably within their grasp ... The road to the last 16 would then become clear.
