Puel: Press conference

After training, Claude Puel spoke to the gathered press. He notably evoked tomorrow's match against AJ Auxerre.

What is the injury situation like?
Toulalan, Ederson and Cris are are out for the match against Auxerre. Cris continues his treatment. He will be available in January. Toulalan should also be ready for the first game back. Aly Cissokho has a little sprain, but should be ok.

Can we expect to see the return of Yoann Gourcuff on Wednesday?
It’s possible. I expect him to put in a good match, to show he is present. I'm not sure he can last the whole match. We'll see where he stands as far as the pace, the repetition of efforts specific to the match. He could have come on at Marseille, but it was finely balanced, I was a little afraid of unbalancing the midfield. We were solid, and coming into a game with such rhythm is never easy. That's why we did not change anything in the midfield. The work he did during his absence will benefit him in the second half of the season. I expect him to make a good entry, with his foot down. If he plays an hour, it will be an hour flat out.

How are you approaching this match against Auxerre?
It will be a tough match, not easy as Auxerre are a team that never gives up. They can be dangerous at any time through their style of play, long counter attacks. They are a team that are not easy to play against. They will also benefit from an extra day of recuperation. They are homogenous with a strong defensive block. As long as we have not made the difference against this kind of team we are not safe from a comeback. We do not expect a walk in the park. We'll have to work hard to deserve the end of year holidays.

Do you feel that OL are feared again?
What is important is what we produce on the pitch. There is still a good scope for improvement. We can refine our game. We saw, for example, a little too much waste in our start to the match in Marseille. Currently, players feel strong because they operate as a team, they are all concerned, whether it be defensive or offensive duties. We must free up more things in view of our opponents but also as far as we are concerned as well.

Are you willing to let go Alexandre Lacazette leave during the transfer window?
No. He is very comfortable with us. We are counting on him for the second half of the season. I do not think there will be any players loaned out from those that evolve in the pro group. It is hoped that there will be plenty of games to play, we will need everyone. For this transfer window, I have no desires because the group suits me just fine. Regarding Jean II (Makoun), he is an important element. We will be speaking with him.
