Check out all the reactions to Lyon’s win over Nancy...
I repeat, I’m delighted with the win because have good players, a quality squad and a very good coach. Tonight, OM are 11 points behind and all the credit has to go to Gérard Houllier and his players. For the moment we are yet t slip up and we have to enjoy it because it’s simply extraordinary, but we don’t know how long it will last.
I would also like to congratulate the supporters, who once again, were fantastic this evening. Lyon’s fans are the best in France. Tonight the stadium was again full to capacity. These fans are here when things are going well, but also when the team is struggling.
Anthony Réveillère: They pressured very high up the field and handicapped us from passing the ball forward. We did the hardest part by opening the scoring and we managed to hold onto that little lead until the end. We were never put in difficulty and we could even have scored a second goal just before half-time but the three points and the win are still more than deserved. We don’t normally worry about others, but tonight Marseille played just ahead of us and we knew that with a win we’d be 11 points clear. So we did the job!
Gérard Houllier: I loved this win exactly because it was so tough and we knew it would be because they are the best defence in the league. We clearly deserved to win. Sometimes were are spectacular, but sometimes you have to know how to get dirty. Defensively, we were perfect. When you defend well at home, you have a 90% chance of victory. I’m happy for the team, but also for John Carew who hadn’t scored in a long time. He was very good, particularly in the air and his presence always drew two defenders.
I’m proud of my players, of their results, of the way the side keeps improving and of their winning mentality which will see them go a long way. All the same, we’ve only been going for three months and there are another seven to go.
Jérémy Toulalan: the main thing, was to win, even if, in the changing rooms, we were disappointed with the way we played. For the moment, it’s been a dream start to the season. We can’t go to sleep now!
Grégory Coupet: The most important thing was the victory. I would just like to congratulate the fans for the banner they had for Rémy (Vercoutre). It was a tough game against a very good Nancy side. Tonight, we never doubted, never got scared, even if it was a little worrying when the things didn’t come as easily as usual.
Juninho: I tried to play up font, but it’s not my position. We had a great first half with a number of chances. We thought we’d done the hardest part by opening the scoring, but they refused to lie down and never gave anything away. On the strength of our first half, we deserved to win. I’m also very happy for John who hadn’t scored in such a long time.
Jean-Jacques Amprino (OL team doctor): Karim Benzema has a bruised head. He didn’t lose consciousness so normally it’s not too bad. We’ll keep a close eye on him over the next 24 hours.
