Reactions after the match between OL and Monaco.

Jean-Michel Aulas: It was a tough match because Monaco is a team on the comeback trail. Monaco is in good form at the moment.
For us, this was our 3rd high-level match in 6 days, and that’s hard for the players. So it’s a good result we managed to grind out without ever being in real danger.
I read various comments about Gérard Houllier in the papers and I don’t think they were really very fair. I’m surprised he wasn’t voted the best manager for the year after another season’s great work.
At the moment we are performing beyond our expectations. We’re in the semis of the Coupe de la Ligue, in the round of 16 of the Champions League, leading the league with 50 points… these are exactly the results we have been after.

Rémi Garde: This Monaco side showed amazing fighting spirit. In the second half, we pushed really hard and Monaco defended well with a spirit that should have seen them getting stronger. We couldn‘t ask any more of our players, they gave everything. Playing 2 games in a week is tough.

Marc Keller (Sporting Director, AS Monaco): OL does an amazing job. You dominate French football.
The point we take home tonight does our confidence no end of good but we still have a long way to go. The second half of the season should be much better for us.
Tonight, our composure was good. We were a bit timid at the beginning, but we played a responsible, defensive match.

Gérard Houllier: It was a very engaging match, with plenty of technical excellence and great passing play. Monaco deserve to be 7th or 8th on the table. Without such a terrible start to the season, Monaco could be playing for the title.
My team was good, but we lack a bit of freshness up front, where our three forwards did a big job against Nancy. Florent Malouda has played 3 matches in 7 days. Still, it’s better than last year, when we lost.
Maybe we deserved the 3 points but it’s still a good draw.

Sidney Govou: I knew I was off side when I put that header home. I just pretended to be surprised. Tonight they played well, defended well. They didn’t go forward much. We deserved to win. In your 200th game, that’s super important.
