Reactions after the match between PSG and OL.
Hatem? He’s working hard and getting stronger. He has developed physically and his confidence is growing. He’s a player who can take out any opponent. He just needs to keep working hard.
Hatem Ben Arfa: I’m very happy because tonight I played in Paris in front of my family and friends. This win is good for the our confidence. We’ve got a winning mentality now. Tonight a scored twice, including one with my right foot, so it’s a really joyful feeling, even though I was a bit greedy when I had a chance to make the score 3-0. When I lost that one-on-one, I instantly thought of Bernard Lacombe, who’s going to give me a clip over the ear.
Kim Källström: We really wanted to win. Everyone was at more than 100%. The start of the match was tough but Hatem gave us some breathing space. All in all, they didn’t have that many chances.
We found our feet again, and everyone knows what they have to do. We defend well, and that’s the basis for everything. We won the ball back high up the pitch and pushed forward.
Every match is tough; there are no easy ones. At the Parc, at the moment, things aren’t going so well for the Parisians but their crowd manages to provide an atmosphere that ‘warms’ the players. It’s a match to remember.
Pedro Miguel Pauleta: What I take from this match is the strong performance of our whole team, who worked hard and battled until the end tonight. In the first half, we conceded twice in one minute. In the second, we looked to equalise but we were faced with a great side. We need to hang onto the spirit we showed tonight and work really hard.
Christophe Galtier: It was a huge, huge, performance by OL tonight. We saw a great game of football and the credit should go to both sides. There was a lot of youth, generosity, madness and engagement.
One of the turning points of the match was Hatem’s big chance. It was an error of youth. He had the chance to score a hat trick at the Parc, in front of his family and friends, but beforehand, he had played an hour at international level. Let’s not forget the moves he pulled off and the passages of play he was involved in.
Jean-Michel Aulas: It was the kind of match you try to promote when talking to big clubs and with TV networks. Suspenseful matches, the kind you can only have in big stadiums. Tonight it was in Paris, the capital, with two highly motivated sides that both performed extremely well. These sides can provide such spectacles because of the investments they have made and the fact that they have big stadiums in big cities. Whether you like it or not, it’s a factor in high-level football.
The two goals we conceded tarnished somewhat an otherwise beautiful performance. Tonight OL attacked quickly, defended quickly and backed each other up quickly.
We have a 4-point lead over Nancy, who have a match in hand. The plot thickens. Rennes are getting stronger, too. So we have some interesting and decisive games coming up.
Karim Benzema: We had a big match even though it wasn’t easy against a young PSG outfit. We made the most of their mistakes, scoring twice in the first half.
We rolled up our sleeves and got the 3 points. After the send-off, I was alone up front and I just tried to hang onto the ball.
We had a few scares from corners but Rémy’s did us the world of good.
François Clerc: With a two-goal lead, we were fairly calm, but things got tough when the gap narrowed to just one goal. They pushed hard at the end but a draw wouldn’t have been the right result, as we had a huge match. We played well and scored three times. It’s very positive.
We played well right from the beginning. PSG fielded a young side. We couldn’t afford to let them become confident.
