After the 0-0 draw conceded at Gerland against Nice, the Lyonnais don’t seem too fussed.
We couldn’t accelerate tonight, especially on the counter. Technically we were a bit low too, we botched a lot of important passes. But better to share the points than lose. In our last two league matches, we haven’t been up to scratch but that’s okay, we’ve had a lot of important matches one after another, lots of away games. Playing on Wednesday night and then Saturday afternoon, that’s tough to recover from.
Nice were well organised, well positioned, they’re a good team. We tried to create chances but we didn’t get that many. I think we played a good match. Now the holidays are around the corner but we have to keep working hard to keep our dreams alive in every competition.
We knew we would suffer physically and it was tough. We could have lost at the death, so the draw is a good result. We managed to get the balance right in defence and we just needed a goal to be happy with our performance. The Champions League was pretty draining, mentally and physically. Now we have to make the most of a week’s rest to recuperate ahead of Nancy.
We knew their strengths, they’re a good side who defend well. They have good players and they were looking to find Koné on the counter. We found it a bit difficult to find solutions. The positive is that we kept a clean sheet. You have to defend well to win the title and to go the distance in the Champions League as well.
This result is disappointing in terms of the table, because when you lose away from home, you need to make the points up at home. But the players were drained after the trip to Glasgow. Tonight we make do with a draw in so far as we could well have lost the match. The lads did what they could and they couldn’t have done much better.
