Schelin extends OL contract

Olympique Lyonnais announces that Swedish striker Lotta SCHELIN has signed a one-year contract extension with a further one-year option.

SCHELIN signed an initial two-year deal, which has already been extended once before, when she first arrived at the club in 2008.

The Sweden international, who boasts 105 caps and 42 goals for her country, is now tied to OL to at least June 30 2013. She has played 61 league games for OL, scoring 59 goals, and 31 Women’s Champions League matches, netting 26 goals.

At 28 years of age, Lotta SCHELIN, named in FIFA's Top 10 players of the year for 2011 and finished third in last World Cup where Sweden defeated France in the third-fourth play-off.

OL is delighted by this contract extension of one of the undisputed stars of the women's game which confirms Olympique Lyonnais' burning ambition to defend their European Champions League title at Munich's Olympic Stadium on May 17 against local side Frankfurt.
