The Bucarest manager, Cosmin Olaroiu, and midfielder Vasilica Cristocea, Answered questions at the customary pre-match press conference.
How do you see this match?
Given that the two teams have already qualified, one for the Round of 16 of the Champions League, the other for the UEFA Cup, this match doesn’t seem to have much at stake, except for pride, which is why I think this will be an interesting match. We congratulate OL, which has an excellent team, but we have come here to take our chances, play a good game, and maybe even get a good result.
Gérard Houllier may rotate his squad, which could make your job easier…
OL has a squad of players who are very close in terms of quality, so even if changes are made, it won’t necessarily affect the outcome of the match.
What do you hope to take away from this game?
A great experience. Our matches against Real and OL, both great teams, have taught us a lot. After a long time absent from this competition, Romania is on the comeback trail. We have all learned about the nature of the Champions League. The experience acquired will be very useful to us. Not just to the players, but to the team.
What would be a good result for you?
A courageous style of play with less respect than in the away game. We will start the game looking to win, as we always do, even if, in Bucarest, we didn’t put enough emphasis on attack.

This game is one that any player would want to play, especially against OL, which is the favourite to win the Champions League this year. I didn’t play in the away game but tomorrow night, if I play, I will do my best for my team.
What does this game mean to you?
For me, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance. I never dreamed I would ever play in the Champions League. I have the opportunity with Steaua and I hope I don’t disappoint.
