Lyon were back at the Groupama OL Training Center the day after their elimination from the Champions League.
There are two types of tomorrows: those that lift the spirit and those that are more difficult. Thursday 8 December is certainly one of the latter for the OL players, being the day after their elimination from the Champions League against Sevilla (0-0), a match that saw them sent down to the Europa League's round of 32 of the Europa League. A few players - those who played as well as some who were substituted for them - were present on Thursday morning at the Groupama OL Training Center, not far from the Parc OL, where their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League's round of 16 were dashed.
There was a small-group session of ball play, long passing and team possession. It was a high-paced session designed to quickly get the team feeling upbeat in spite of the recent disappointment and also to motivate everyone ahead of hosting Rennes in Ligue 1 this Sunday (15:00), when the objective of reaching the 31-point mark by the winter break will be more pressing than ever. It's a meeting Lyon should not look past even though they face another Brittany club who sit above them on the league table - EA Guingamp - as they begin their campaign in the Coupe de la Ligue, the final of which will take place at the Parc OL.
