On paper, OL don't have too much to fear from AC Ajaccio who, barring a miracle, are almost certainly going to be playing in Ligue 2 next season... But now they have to prove it out on the pitch... and bounce back after their elimination from the Coupe de France...

OL got back to winning ways in Ligue 1 against Nantes last weekend. It wasn't easy. Solidarity, spirit, a killer touch in front of goal... and an excellent Anthony Lopes saw the team add another three precious points to the team's tally. Four days later, the side was eliminated from the last-16 of the Coupe de France and on Sunday, they are back in league action before the matches keep coming thick and fast...

On February 16 OL take on the bottom club. The ACA have been in trouble since the start of the season, despite their incredible draw at the Parc des Princes, in Week 2. Their goalkeeper Ochoa can't be unbeatable every single match! The Corsicans are slipping further and further into trouble... they've changed coach... they had nine points at Christmas... a one-way ticket for Ligue 2. But that doesn't mean they are not going to try. They are even undefeated in their last three matches and have picked up five points in that time, including a win over the Stade Rennais.

OL will have to be focused and do the job for the full 90 minutes - something they didn't do against Les Sang et Or. And there was also the first meeting this season when OL gave Ajaccio all the ingredients they needed to record an historic win, 2-1. It was three wasted points against a courageous side coached by Ravanelli at the time…  Alex Lacazette was even sent off in stoppage time. Since then, Les Lyonnais have stepped up a category. Their diamond shaped midfield, their striker pair of Gomis/Lacazette have to team on song. And if they can avoid conceding from very avoidable goals, they can realistically aim for higher than sixth place on the ladder. While OL have the third-best attack in the land, they also have the 13th ranked defence... but either way...

nobody will understand how they can pick up less than three points in this, their 25th game of the season. To overcome the Corsican side, OL will almost certainly be up against three central defenders, like against Toulouse, and while it's not always easy to play against, OL just have to play their own game. Like Rémi Garde often says, a positive approach brings the squad together.

OL has a lot to lose against the L1 cellar-dwellers. But this anticipated victory, could see the side take a giant leap up the standings. Indeed, four and two points behind ASSE and OM, respectively, and who play each other on Sunday evening, there is the chance to close in one, or both these rivals for the European places. There is still a long way to go… but it starts this weekend with the match against ACA. A trap to avoid… especially after the surprise elimination from the Coupe de France against Lens...
