To mark France's national Fight against Cancer Week, Olympique Lyonnais has organised a big fund-raiser with players and fans in support of the Léon Bérard Centre for cancer research...

What is the Léon Bérard Centre?
More than just a reputed hospital, the Léon Bérard Centre is also a recognised Cancer research institute. More than 400 researchers work daily for towards the one objective: find new and effective treatments for cancer sufferers. "Don't forget that 75% children cancers, 60% of women's cancers and 50% of men's cancers are cured. There's still a long road to travel for all those people that aren't treated successfully, but research is achieving excellent results," stated Thierry Philip, president of the fund raising committee.

OL's commitment to the Léon Bérard Centre
Since the start of the season, the OL Foundation has been supporting the Léon Bérard Centre via its "Goals against Cancer" project. 500 Euros for every goal scored in Ligue 1 is donated to the LBC to help their Centre move into Europe's top 5 centres of expertise in the fight against cancer.

The whole club united in the fight against cancer
The fund-raising operation runs from 19 to 25 March and the 'Goals against Cancer' project will be extended to all the men's and women's matches this week, including a range of activities all week.

OL's home match against Sochaux will also provide supporters with the chance to donate to the cause.
