Nancy are back again after a good 2005-06 season. They finished 12th in Ligue 1 in their promotion season and also won the League Cup, 2-0 thanks to goals from Zerka and Kim). They qualified for the group stages of the UEFA Cup after eliminating Schalke 04, the current Bundesliga leaders 3-2 on aggregate (Dia, André Luiz, Curbelo). They share their group with Feyenoord, Blackburn, Wisla Krakow and FC Basle. They have qualified for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de la Ligue after defeating Nice 1-0 (Curbelo) and Toulouse 2-1 (Dosonmu and Lécluse). They take on Lyon in the quarters… In the league, they are one point off Marseille.

Coach Pablo Corréa played for Nancy alongside two of his current crop of players: Lécluse and Biancalani. He is the only L1 coach in that situation. Correa, a Uruguayan, only played for Nancy in France. Cédric Lécluse, Olivier Sorin, Sébastien Puygrenier, Landry N’Guemo and Kim all made their L1 debuts against OL. Puygrenier was playing for Rennes at the time. 14 current players were crowned second division champions in the 2004-05 season.
