The U17s won big against Annecy, while the U19s won through to the last 64 of the Coupe Gambardella, also at the expense of Annecy.
U19: Annecy 0 - 1 OL
Lyon's quick-fire opener turned out to be enough to book them a berth in the competition's next round. Away to Annecy, OL needed just three minutes to take the lead, Houssem Aouar converting from Martelat's free-kick. Joël Fréchet and Pierre Chavrondier's charges carved out further opportunities, notably through Cognat and Martins Pereira, but never managed to kill the match off. But their performance was enough to secure a place in the last 64 of the competition in which they were losing finalists last season.
Joël Fréchet: "Overall, we were solid. We scored very early, and it's great to make the difference at the beginning of a match. We were never in trouble after that. We lacked a bit of precision in front of goal. It went well and it's a well deserved win against a quality side. I would like to thank the fans from Bad Gones supporter group, who made the trip to support their lads."
OL's line-up: Lebongo - G. Kalulu - Roselli - Owusu - Gaspar - Tousart - Cognat - Martelat - Martins Pereira (Dzabana 75') - Aouar - Kitala (Ankoué 65').
Goal: Aouar (3').
U17: OL 8 - 0 Dijon
There was no contest this afternoon as Armand Garrido ran riot against Dijon in this rescheduled fixture. The outcome was evident from fairly early on, thanks notably to the OL duo of Almeida and Maolida. The former notched a quadruple and the latter a hat-trick, with Ndicka Matam notching OL's eighth goal. The win sees the Olympiens leap up the table to third place, ahead of fourth place on goal difference. A job well done!
OL's line-up: Girardot - Gahrouri - Mayounga (Vieira 70') - Kaleba - Pereira - Caqueret (Giuly 70') - Devarrewaere - Lebongo - Ndicka Matam - Almeida (Perrier 81') - Maolida.
Goals: Almeida x4, Maolida x3, Ndicka Matam.
