OLTV got the OL coach's reaction after his side's win over Bordeaux.
"We're extremely happy; this is a great reward for the players and the coaching staff. We were in a tough spot. We worked hard and focused on our game and our values. We reacted in the best possible way. What changed? Things went our way. The side that opens the scoring has a great chance of winning the match. It gives you confidence and you play more freely. The players showed maturity and lived up to all our expectations. We worked on playing in behind our opponents' defence in training, and it paid off. For a while now we've been a good dynamic despite not getting results, and tonight we validated that even though the scoreline was a bit flattering. There is always pressure before a match, and I was pretty nervous towards the end of this one, until we scored our second goal. We knew how important this win was. We knew we would be favourites in this home clash - during a tough period - but we handled the pressure. The players' investment and energetic performance was really terrific; it proved they have a lot of character. Some people were counting us out a bit too early on in the season… We'll make the most of it tonight before looking ahead to a tough match against Angers. We'll go there looking to play to our strengths, with our belief in ourselves and a desire to keep it rolling. We've fallen so far behind that every match is important. Alex is a great striker and what his critics had to say was not completely justified. He hasn't been rewarded for his efforts. I have absolute confidence in my players. The centre of our defence is getting more and more solid. Mapou is regaining his confidence and his best form won't be far behind. He has weathered the storm."
