Olympique Lyonnais goalkeeper Mathieu Gorgelin spoke at the traditional pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's clash with Montpellier in the Last-16 of the Coupe de la Ligue.
Back into the action
"Since the preseason friendlies, I've only played once with the reserves. But I've prepared well for this match. It's great to start a new competition and get back on the pitch. The start of the match is obviously a little bit special. The hardest thing is to find your marks and you need a little time to adjust. We will do everything we can to qualify. The aim is clear: we give every competition our absolute best because we are Olympique Lyonnais."
The role of back-up 'keeper
"We work hard every day, as though we were the first-choice 'keeper to be ready at any momment. We can be called upon any time. You have to be very concentrated on the bench and in training, even if you don't experience the adrenaline rush of the match. I am completely focused on my role. I'm getting used to it. I know what I have to do and we'll see what happens later."
Joël Bats departure
"He's to thank for getting me where I am today. If I play well on the rare occasions I get the chance, it's thanks to him. He helps me improve, despite the fact that I hardly ever play. I feel I have progressed a lot technically. He is a very important person for Anthony Lopes and I. His departure will be an emotional moment. We will do everything we can for last three matches to give him the perfect send off."
