A duel at the top of the table between Bordeaux and Montpellier… and a duel at the bottom involving Grenoble and Le Mans…
After the midweek international interlude and before the European matches of next week for Lille, OL, OM, the L1 will see a crunch match between the top two sides. Will Montpellier be able to create the surprise and win against Bordeaux taking their place at the top of the table? You never know with this Montpellier side … even if Bordeaux have two games in hand. A win or a draw for Girard’s men would kick the title race wide open, as long as Lyon, Marseille, Lille or Auxerre take all three points.
Marseille and Auxerre will have the advantage of playing at home. OM, in great form, receive Lorient. As for Auxerre they are at home to Valenciennes.
At the Stade du Ray, Nice would do well to overcome an inconsistent Nancy side, to give themselves a boost in the relegation struggle. Another relegation battle sees Le Mans, in the first relegation spot, travel to Grenoble. Grenoble who will be doing all they can to move away from last place, even if they look certain to go down.
In Lens, PSG will try « to wipe out » the punishment inflicted on them by OM at the Parc. Can they do it? Can Rennes, who are slipping away in the league, get things back on track at home against Monaco who still have a chance of making a European spot? Finally at Geoffroy-Guichard, Saint-Etienne are obliged to get a result against Lille. Galtier’s «Verts » need to quickly finish off with their relegation problems. The « Dogues », who lost at home to Auxerre, will be looking to stay in touch with the podium.
