first team / PSG - OL

Lyon learn hard Paris lesson!

Published on the 13 December 2015 à 23:10 by R.B

Almost as feared, PSG ran out comfortable winners... OL offered some good resistance in the latter stages of the first half, but it wasn't enough against a merciless Paris...

OL sat deep from the outset and Lopes produced a good save early to deny Ibrahimovic before Cavani had a good chance. OL were looking to defend, sitting back... Ibrahimovic opened the scoring from a long ball over the top and a failed clearance. OL were struggling to see the ball... and were punished a second time when Aurier headed home Di Maria's free-kick! PSG were in total control. But Ferri got OL back in the game with a long-range effort that Trapp spilled into his goal. OL looked better, with more determination in the challenges, led by a very good Ferri. PSG lost their clinical edge. OL fought back well after a catastrophic start and at half-time, were still in the competition...

Paris began the second period with three consecutive corners that failed to bring a goal, despite an acrobatic Zlatan.  OL played higher up the pitch and were winning back more ball... Paris were still in control and Cavani added another goal from Di Maria's cross. Darder replaced Grenier. Aurier produced a nasty challenge on Tolisso that went unpunished. Bedimo fouled Ibrahimovic... who netted the resulting penalty. It was all too much for Gonalons and Co... and Lucas, set up by Di Maria, added goal number five!

OL suffered their biggest defeat of the season, but what could they do with so many players missing against such a side as Paris? OL are now 5 points adrift of second and third place... OL need a positive result against Ajaccio before the break...
