Reactions to OL’s away victory over PSV Eindhoven.
All the same, we’re only halfway there. There’s still one match to go at the Stade Gerland, but I’m confident because in 37 official matches this season we’ve only lost one and we’ve scored in 35 of them.
I’d like to play tribute to the players’ efforts, especially Cris who was injured in the first half. You have to hand it to this team’s spirit, especially the defence which in the second half, was totally new to that of the start of the season.
Rémy Garde: We saw the game we expected to see: a battle of the highest quality with a total physical commitment at every opportunity. But we’re only halfway there.
Greg’s stop in the second minute was perhaps the game’s first turning point. And you’ve got to take your hat of to the defence who were heroic in the second half.
We need to be solid in the return match, the work’s not over yet.
Robert Duvernes: Cris received a knock on the nose going for a header and it’s probably broken.
PSV played with their elbows but we never took a backward step.
Rémy Vercoutre: I was right behind the team like always and I haven’t got any voice left.
We knew it would be tight, like it is every time we play PSV.
The goal allowed to us to claim a great and important victory. All the same, we’re going to look out for the return match.
At the end of the match we were a bit angry at having received so many yellow cards.
As for the performance of Greg Coupet, I can remind you that there is never a great team without a great goalkeeper. Luckily for us, we’ve got the best one in Europe.
